Aleksandras has more than 20 years experience in strategic marketing and sales roles. During his career Aleksandras experienced fast growth and downhill roads and once even a bankruptcy. Most of experience is gained working in technology companies in B2B areas in Lithuania, Baltics and Europe - from startups to corporations. Karolis Granickas is Head of Europe at Open Contracting Partnership, working with European institutions, country governments and civil society to improve public spending in the region. He focuses on strengthening institutions and their public spending using openness principles. He is interested in how open contracting can help power sustainable transition in Europe. Karolis is a member of the European Commission Multi-Stakeholder Expert Group on eProcurement (EXEP) and co-leads the Open Spending EU Coalition - a community of open spending champions in the EU. Before joining the Open Contracting Partnership, Karolis worked with Transparency International Lithuania, focusing on citizen engagement using ICT. He also contributed to global open data advocacy efforts, together with the Epsi platform, Open Knowledge International, Open Data Institute and others. From 2014 to 2016, he was a national researcher within the Open Government Partnership Independent Review Mechanism.

I started my career over 20 years ago in a fintech firm, closely working with hedge fund managers and for the last 16 years I have been in banking, Citi and HSBC. I have held a variety of managerial and leadership roles across client management, client on-boarding, business management, product development, product management, regulatory assurance, strategy, change, people experience, culture change and risk management. I launched new products and I decommissioned old ones, I set up new teams, drove strategic direction and held financial responsibility.

Outside of work I love spending time with my family, travelling, meeting new people and new cultures. I love skiing, reading, DIY and many other activities - anything that feeds my curiosity and keeps me active.

I have also been actively involved in the Lithuanian diaspora and have been a member of the Lithuanian City of London Club since 2011, including positions as a Board Member, Advisory Board Member and the President.
